The story behind this meme
The Two Buttons meme shows a sweating cartoon man frozen between two tempting red buttons. It grew out of an old science-fiction comic panel and became one of the internet's favorite ways to picture an impossible choice. The formula is a painful loop: press one button, instantly regret it, sweat, repeat. That makes it perfect for contradictory impulses — starting homework early versus at midnight, saving money versus the flash sale. If a decision feels like a trap, this template fits.

- Gym day: Follow the workout plan / Skip "just one" day / Me negotiating with myself
Classroom-safe & how teachers use it
A clean cartoon with no text of its own, so it fits any classroom. Students label the two buttons with competing choices from a story, a historical decision, or a health scenario to practice weighing trade-offs. It also works as a quick exit ticket: everyone picks their two buttons for today's lesson and defends one choice.
