The story behind this meme
During a televised New York governor debate in 2010, a third-party candidate named Jimmy McMillan stole the show with a single issue, repeated with operatic passion: the rent was too damn high. His party was literally named after the complaint, and the clip became instant internet folklore. The template keeps his fire and swaps the target: the top box names the outrageous thing, and the bottom box delivers the verdict in his unmistakable cadence. Prices, fees, textbook costs, and concert tickets have all faced the judgment since, and the ruling never changes.

Classroom-safe & how teachers use it
It is real footage from a public debate, with one mildly spicy word, so it suits older students and civics lessons. Teachers can use it to teach political parties, protest movements, and how a single message travels through media. Students can debate which modern price deserves the rallying cry and propose real solutions.
