The story behind this meme
The animated villain Gru once presented a heist plan across four panels: he announces the plan, presents the board, turns to see the board, and discovers the board betrays him. The internet recognized the shape of every project gone wrong. The formula needs four labels: the announcement, the method, the moment the method reveals its true nature, and the quiet despair at the end. It is a complete story arc in four boxes. Use it for any plan that was doomed from step two, which is most of them.

An animated villain's plan board is safe for all classrooms and hugely popular with students. Teachers can use the four panels for project planning, letting students predict failure points in their own plans before they happen. It fits story structure lessons, since the four boxes mirror setup, action, twist, and resolution. Science classes can use it to test hypotheses against results honestly.
