The story behind this meme
A school yearbook photo of a smiling teen in a plaid vest became one of the most beloved unlucky characters online. The internet named him Bad Luck Brian and gave him a two-line biography of misfortune: the top line sets up an attempt, the bottom line delivers the disaster. The formula is poetic injustice, where every good intention backfires in the worst possible order. Use it whenever the universe seems personally invested in your failure, from tests to weather to vending machines.
Caption ideas

- Money: Found five dollars on the sidewalk / It belonged to the school fundraiser

Classroom-safe & how teachers use it
A yearbook photo with harmless captions, safe for any class. Teachers can use it for probability lessons, comparing the meme's exaggerated misfortune with real odds. Writing classes can practice the setup-payoff structure, then rewrite Brian's luck in kinder ways. It also fits discussions about resilience, asking students what Bad Luck Brian should do after a terrible, horrible, no-good day.
