The story behind this meme
Bill is a simple stick figure with a knitted hat and an unbearable sense of superiority, and for a while in the mid-2010s he was everywhere. Each episode follows the same sermon: Bill does the sensible thing, quietly and without applause, and the last line invites you to be like Bill. The template is a machine for polite smugness, celebrating tiny correct behaviors as if they were moral triumphs. The two boxes split the lesson cleanly, and the joke is that Bill's standards are extremely low while his pride is extremely high.
