The story behind this meme
The rain outside matches the mood inside. This Kermit template shows the famous Muppet gazing out a window, chin resting, thoughts heavy, like every contemplative character in every film ever made. It spread around 2017 as the internet's favorite portrait of gentle melancholy — not crisis, just the quiet Sunday-afternoon feeling that life is large and snacks are temporary. The formula is a two-line reflection: the top line describes the small thing triggering the mood, and the bottom line is the window-gazing conclusion, wistful and a little dramatic. Use it for finished vacations, empty snack drawers, and Sunday evenings. The puppet's sincerity keeps it from tipping into sadness; it is melancholy with training wheels, and it is beautifully useful.

Classroom-safe & how teachers use it
A Muppet looking out a window is safe, gentle content. Teachers use it for mood and atmosphere lessons: students caption the view from the character's window at different points in a story. Poetry units pair it with imagery practice, and the results are genuinely lovely. Even students who dread poetry write willingly here.
