The story behind this meme
Everything you need to know happens in the sip. This Kermit the Frog template is built on gesture rather than dialogue: the cup rises, the eyelids lower, and the drinker politely removes himself from whatever nonsense is unfolding. Captions give the gesture a script, usually in two beats. The top line describes the mess someone else has made, and the bottom line is the quiet decision to observe rather than intervene, sealed with a slurp. It thrives wherever gossip travels — comment sections, offices, group chats — because it lets the poster acknowledge the drama while claiming no part of it. The puppet's calm face makes the pettiness feel elegant, almost philosophical, which is the joke's secret engine.

Classroom-safe & how teachers use it
A Muppet with tea is safe for all ages and instantly recognized. Teachers use it for lessons on staying out of conflict and on bystander choices in digital citizenship. Drama students perform the sip with different emotions — smug, calm, reluctant — to study how gesture creates comedy. Even a two-minute version fills the room with laughter.
