The story behind this meme
Every generation discovers the internet, and every generation needs a tour guide. This template plays on that idea, showing a friendly presenter introducing the online world like a museum exhibit, and it grew popular in the late 2010s as a way to joke about the web's strange customs. The formula works like a fake instruction manual: the top line states the topic or the confused newcomer, and the bottom line delivers the 'official rule' of the internet, which is always nonsense. Use it whenever online behavior deserves a mock documentary voice, from reply-all disasters to comment sections that argue about pineapples on pizza.
Caption ideas
- Study mode: Welcome to the internet, chapter one / Rule one: nobody reads the article
- School life: The new student's guide to the cafeteria / The pizza line is law; respect it
- Work: The official guide to office email / Reply-all is forever; choose wisely, hero
Classroom-safe & how teachers use it
Nothing sensitive appears in the image, so it fits general classrooms. Teachers use it for digital citizenship: students write 'official rules' for safe, kind online behavior, then discuss which rules are real. It also makes a fun first-week activity where the class writes a field guide to the school's own traditions. Writing teachers can grade the voice for tone.
