The story behind this meme
Every so often honesty barges through the door wearing pajamas, and this template opens it. The format - 'I'm tired of pretending it's not' - precedes a confession of taste, comfort, or belief that society has quietly judged: loving the villain's song more, preferring the cheap frozen pizza, actually enjoying Monday mornings. It flourished in the late 2010s alongside the great normalization of admitting things online. The two boxes hold the ceremony: the weary pretense on top, the truth marching in below. Say it loudly. The internet will probably agree.

Classroom-safe & how teachers use it
A confession format that is gentle, safe, and sneakily reflective. Teachers use it for opinion writing: students state a preference, drop the pretense, and support it with reasons - the heart of persuasive voice. It also builds classroom trust: sharing small honest tastes makes braver academic risk-taking easier. Honesty, with a punchline attached.
