The story behind this meme
In 2002 a Canadian pop-punk singer opened a song with the line 'he was a boy, she was a girl,' and two decades later the internet still finishes it from memory. The lyric became a meme framework for instant, obvious pairings: two things so clearly meant for each other that explaining further would be an insult. Its two boxes usually mirror the couple - one side for the boy, one for the girl, or any two forces the universe has obviously matched. Use it for love, rivalry, or peanut butter meeting jelly.
