The story behind this meme
Some situations call for a dignified exit, and some call for vanishing entirely. This template captures the second option: a man in the process of not being there anymore, fading out of a scene like a browser tab you regret opening. It became popular in the 2010s as the visual phrase for 'I want no part of this' - awkward silences, group chats turning hostile, someone asking for volunteers. The two boxes tell the escape: the situation that triggers departure, and the moment the exit begins. Ghosting, but honest about it.
Caption ideas
- Work: Boss: who wants to present Friday? / Me, already translucent
- School life: Teacher: anyone want to retake the quiz? / Me, slowly leaving the frame
- Family time: The 'who's doing dishes' question / My siblings, evaporating one by one
Classroom-safe & how teachers use it
Pure comedy, no unsafe content, and secretly a boundary-setting lesson. Teachers use it to discuss healthy exits: leaving a conversation respectfully versus disappearing from responsibilities. Students contrast funny exits with accountable ones in two boxes. It also fits digital citizenship units on ghosting and reply etiquette. Everyone laughs, then everyone reflects on what they owe each other.
