The story behind this meme
The scene is a bowling-alley meltdown for the ages. In the 1998 cult classic The Big Lebowski, Walter Sobchak — veteran, bowling purist, walking malfunction — escalates a minor scoring dispute into a lecture about rules that ends with the question now known by heart: am I the only one around here who cares? The meme strips the scene to its righteous core: one person convinced they are the last guardian of standards everyone else abandoned. The two-line formula is a suburban showdown — the top line names the principle being violated, and the bottom line delivers the exasperated challenge. It fits grammatical pedants, recycling martyrs, and anyone who reuses the office coffee mug correctly. The passion is the punchline.
